Kaleigh Provides Musical Entertainment at The Celebration of Women Athletes Event

- Excerpted from The Hopkinton Independent, April 25, 2002

“On April 13, Hopkinton had the distinct honor to showcase a group of very accomplished individuals - and all women. What began as a pre-Marathon Salute to women athletes spread and encompassed two other amazing women.”

“Those in attendance were treated to an intimate opportunity to mingle with marathoners, Uta Pippig, Jean Driscoll and Kathrine Switzer, and WBZ Sportscaster Alice Cook before and after the formal program. Pictures were taken, laughter was heard, and autographs were exchanged.”

“The program was opened with the music of Kaleigh Cronin, a young lady who, at the age of 12 has quite a list of performing accomplishments behind her. What an show of Patriotism she gave to the proceedings!”

After inspirational speeches by the elite women athlete’s in attendance, Kaleigh entertained the audience with a rendition of “I Hope You Can Dance,” and closed with “That’s What Friends Are For,” noting the critical role of those who support us in our efforts to achieve – whatever the goal may be.
In the photo above, Kaleigh shares a moment with the amazing Jean Driscoll.
Kaleigh, along with Driscoll, Switzer, Pippig, and Cook, was made an Honorary Citizen of Hopkinton that evening, by Chairman of the Board of Selectman.
