Kaleigh Plays Role of Scout Finch in “To Kill a Mockingbird”

Kaleigh played the pivotal role of Scout in Director Bob Shea’s production of "To Kill a Mockingbird," a courtroom drama of a critical time in our nation’s history. In an article in the December 2, 2000 edition of The Union Leader, Shea commented, “It is her first non-musical and her role is the filter through which everything happens.” When asked how a director could entrust a production to an 11 year old, Shea responded, “It’s easy when the 11 year old is Kaleigh Cronin. She has something you can’t teach. It’s an openness, so when she reads a script, she’s not reading something somebody else wrote. She’s saying it as though she’s the one. She doesn’t attack it with her head. She does it with her heart, her emotions, and her sense of play. In a very uninhibited way, Kaleigh connects with the material.”
